In My Silence
by Avery Robertson
An image in glass
a transparent stare
watches the drizzle of
blood stained tears
whisper
"You cannot harm me
I don't even fear you"
(anymore}
There are lights
(somewhere)
in the background
of broken limbs
where sunlight flees
and rain clouds form
My treasure
dims
as I await my faith
in the darkness
with hands clasped tightly
where I stand ankle deep
in the sand and stone
Hungry and beaten
I let go
as my love goes
skittering in front of eyes
that have seen too much
my love blow softly on ears
refusing to hear your voice
yet, hands reach out too
close the door
as the mind screams
LET ME BE...
in my cold steel silence.
