You Ask Of Me
by Avery  Robertson

I used to love you- once upon a time,
(still do)
drop anything to hear you,
dream, asleep and awake, of you,
take the clouds up above
to make them into your face,
and kiss the cool air of your lips
just to catch the fire of your heart.

I wanted so much to experience
all the passion you wanted to give,
live in the moment and pray for the future,
I was humble and I was bold,
I grabbed onto each and every word you mouthed.

I saw the sun's rays in your hair,
heard songs sung in clarity from passing birds,
lived to be with you,
climbed emotions and disappointments,
craved the healing that you imbedded in me.

I have prayed in silence to angels,
and been blessed by the fae,
my calling is to see the day we cling
to a life of comfort and maybe struggles,
carrying the burden of our seperation
on my shoulder with a smile on my lips.

You asked me why I do all these things,
and I can only repeat over and over,
darling, I do it all for the love of you,
for you, for you, always for you and us.
