My first annivesary without my soldier
by   malerie

Candles lit
Our song is playing
I still hear the whispers
And every word you were saying

Lying down
Wrapped in silk sheets
Listening quietly
But there is only one heartbeat

Dozing off
Then I hear your voice
Telling me you love me
But you made the right choice

Reaching out
To touch your face
The look in the eyes
I can never erase

Open my eyes
To see nothing but air
A tear falls down my face
As I scream- "This isn?t fair!"

Baby, come back
From that awful war
Please, Baby, please
Just walk through that door

My handsome soldier
Is gone forever
He said he would never leave
And he would be with me forever

"I love you, Beautiful,"
Were the last words you said
You're supposed to be with me
But now you?re dead

Candles blown out
Our song on repeat
Still sadly listening
To only one heartbeat

I love you
I whisper
You?re finally free
As I sit alone
On our last anniversary
