She heard it whispered on the wind;
His name gently brushed her cheek.
She longed to still be by his side,
But the beat of her heart was weak.

She buried her face in her tiny hands
And slowly fell to her knees.
Her tears, like pearls, caressed the leaves
And glistened on the trees.

A blanket of darkness covered her,
She could feel her spirit fade.
She remembered how he made her laugh
And all the plans they'd made.

It had been so long since she had laughed.
Her days were now dark and dim.
