Pinnacle of Cynicism
by Matthew  David

I recall the pinnacle...
That turned me cynical.
Into this void I further sink.
And lift the bottle for another drink.

I grasp for life... despite the strain.
It hurts me bad but I dull the pain.
I see my blood... it leaves a stain.
But it?s what I need... to keep me sane.

I listen... as I release this scream
And swear revenge to be redeemed.
I try to hide but still feel the sorrow.
And wonder if I?ll live and see tomorrow.
