I'll always wonder... To Daddy

By: Kayla Rene'e King

I’ll always wonder why you had to go
You had so much to look up to, like watching me grow.
You saw my first steps, you heard my first cry.
Now I sit here and wonder why you chose to die?
You missed my best years
Which in her heart, brought mom to tears.

You missed Elementary School
Where we all thought we were cool.
You missed Junior High
And in those three years, time flew.
Now I’m a Senior in High School
And this is when I need you here the most,
To guide me in the right direction, to be my leaning post.
You're going to miss my Homecoming,
What a shame.
You're going to miss the Prom.
But whom do I have to blame?
June 3rd, 2005 is when I graduate
This will be a day I will love... and hate.

You’ve been gone now for 13 years.
I wish you were here to see me
So, I wouldn’t have to cry so many sad tears.
I know my wish will never come true
But that doesn’t keep me from loving you.
I’m just upset for what you did,
You left mom all alone to raise a kid.

One day I’ll walk down that aisle,
One day I’ll be in that delivery room having my first child.
But you won’t be there for me, which hurts,
It seems like my life is just one big curse.
As my anger grows thicker and thicker,
I’ll always wonder why you choose to pull that trigger.
You didn’t even say good-bye,
Which I’ll have to live with till I die.
