With These Arms

With these arms, I long to give you everything you need...

I long to hold you gently in them...
for you to feel, to feel the warmth
and tenderness of my love.

I long to open them up to you...
for I will catch you when you slip
and pick you up when you fall.

I long to wrap them around you...
for I will hold you constantly
for as long as the tears
flow from your eyes.

I long to pick you up in them...
for I will carry you across this life
when it gets too deep and too dark.

With these arms, I give you everything I have, now and forever.
