Right Here Waiting
by chantel michelle tucker

Would it really matter
if I confessed my love for you,
ignited the flame that burns
with the fury
of a thousand broken hearts?

I am but a speck
of light in your field of vision,
never to beam and uncover
the shadow of your heart.

Although just a speck,
can you see me?
Please just squint
a little bit more.
Can you see me yet?
I'm the one standing there
with the broken heart.

I've been waiting here forever.
Would it be best to just let you go?
To contradict my heart,
and go against everything I stand for?

I figure it'd be best to hide,
to hide inside my heart,
but I want to let you know
that no matter what,
I'll be right here waiting.
