Messed Up

By: SweetGirl

In a house we knew
was not a "home"
So your journey continued
when set free to roam

Different crowds
people so new
A billion dreams
you set out to do

A girl, still young
forced to grow
Your time had come
it was time to go

An act of prejudice
as you were shoved out the door
No kiss goodbye
no, "Good luck," to explore

Naive and sweet
a man had his turn
What you thought was love
was just a burn

You carried his child
as you carried your shame
Made to believe
you'd lost that game

Feeling alone
no parents to care
You suffered through labor
a daughter you'd bear

She wasn't enough
to heal your heart
For a girl so young
so torn apart

You began, once again
to find level ground
You shared with me
new hopes you'd found

It's so messed up
as I sit here and write
About your life
about your fight

It's so messed up
when your hopes were so high
Why'd you get in that car
why did you die?

It's so messed up
the words they would say
"She was so messed up
she lost her way"

You're more than that
and I know inside
THEY are the reasons
all your dreams died

I cherish our memories
the way you'd smile
Our late-night talks
were SO worthwhile

It's so messed up
that only memories can share
Locked up as treasures
I'll keep them there

I hope to meet you
in a virtual dream
The two of us, again
a team

It's so messed up
you were always so brave
It's so messed up
as I cry on your grave
