Friendship Lost

I'm blessed with friends but short by two,
Ten years have passed and forgotten never,
Their smiles and laughter, once I knew,
And the love remembered that now I savor.

Sometimes I smile at moments past,
Of voices distant amd memories had,
And wonder why it could never last,
How something good could turn so bad.

But life is strange with many turns,
And friendship sadly was the cost,
Hard work is needed for friendship earned,
But my biggest regret was that friendship lost.
