Invested Graces

By: Lance Anthony Grabmiller

In forgotten numbness and empty phrases
Forgiven sins are but forgotten praises
Here the lover stands amiss
Forgiving all but for a single kiss

Dancing fool now proves his devotion
(or does he prove his lack of notion)
Quickly spending each tomorrow's dole
Far too many tomorrows are stole
But for a single today

These invested graces lost along the way
Here, this empty soul; desolate as winter's trees
Standing naked with no foliage to appease
Bitter winds do not whisper but howl
To a dying soul in a flowing angelic cowl
