Letters To Amanda

By: L. Gail Goins

Posthumously you gave to me the gift of passion and love.
Feelings, pouring from the very marrow of my soul -
Long repressed, deprived of the sun,
Now growing, flourishing in your light
Released in me by your death.

Passion such that I never knew,
consuming my every thought -
Poems flowing from this newly formed being,
A gift, Amanda...
from your loving heart.

Oh, how I would gladly bottle my feelings,
My poems, my passion, my soul -
And bury them deep beneath the rocky soil,
To give him his gentle English queen...
For one night of mortal love.
