A Gift at Christmas

By: Steven Mather

Though petals falls from springtime rose
and eyes grow dim as vision goes,
though hair grows thin and limbs grow weak,
I still adore to kiss your cheek.
My heart beats strong and brims with fire,
I look at you and know desire

We'll celebrate our Christmas day
and share the joy in our own way.
So, when Santa's sleigh is close above,
I'll wish for your continued love,
for that is all I need to see
this year, beneath the christmas tree.

And as the year draws to its end,
I'll hold you close, my dearest friend
and in a manner most sincere,
I'll thank you for the passing year,
for as the year begins anew,
I'll give my heart again to you
