Alone

By: Dana Lauren Tapper

I smiled when I had you,
cried when you were gone,
Sobbed alone at each coming sunset,
woke up all alone each dawn,
Gazed at the drifting ocean,
all alone and yet so sure,
stared at the sky full of stars,
each one floating strong and pure.
I wished on each and every one of them,
and I sigh as they sparkle mischievously.
I guess I’ll believe in dreams coming true
when once again there’s you and me.
