Built with Love

By: Steven Mather

I could build you a sandcastle made of delight,
with tall, round towers of laughter at each corner.
I could decorate it with glistening shells of happiness,
and surround it with a moat of excitement and carefree joy.
I could build you a sandcastle,
but why would I bother,
if you won't come here to play?

I could build you a temple made of respect,
erected on a broad and sturdy base of devotion.
I could build stairs of understanding and patience
leading to the altar and crown it with an elegant
spire, of endeavour and persistance.
I could build you a temple,
but why would I bother,
if you won't come here to pray ?

I could build you a home made of comfort,
carpeted with spontaneity and painted with pleasure.
I could furnish it with peace and harmony,
and light it with the glow of everlasting love.
I could build you a home,
but why would I bother,
if you won't come here to stay ?
