I TRIED
I tried so hard to get you at first.
Without, I thought my life would burst.
I needed you like water to thirst,
but you seemed so far away.
I tried to tell you when we got together,
that our love would last forever
and I would love you forever and ever
if only you would stay.
I tried to ingnore the rude commenting,
snickering, stuttering, and regular bullying,
all your glares so tormenting.
But my plastic smile went on for days.
So you tell me you finally realized
that "we" were just dishonesty and lies.
Behind our smiles were hidden cries
and you want this all to end.
I take one last look at my wrists
and what's about to be two open slits.
I wonder how I could be betrayed by my wits
who always were my friends.
I thought that I was really right
to find my love in just one night.
With my emotions I tried to fight
as I lay bleeding on the floor.
I want you to know I really tried
to get through a night without a tear cried.
I'm following our love that so painfully died.
Life's not worth it any more.
And so I bid you farewell, my love.
My soul is free just like a dove.
