Life's Journey

By: Thomas Lynn Barnes

Into this world we are born
Cold and alone, tattered and torn
We struggle to live, Then struggle to grow
Struggle to learn, struggle to know
Just when we think we have learned it all
We lucky ones find we know nothing at all
We journey alone from begining to end
But the path is made smoother when walked with a friend
If we are lucky and if we are kind
We can be of one soul, if not of one mind
For if you and I don't always agree
It's because we travel different roads, you see
Though our roads may parallel for awhile
And seem the same, mile after mile
That it will change, you can be sure
No matter how perfect, no matter how pure
It's how we react when we find this is so
That speaks of ourselves, how we live through the blow
For though we're alone, we're never apart
Your hand in my hand, my heart to your heart
And no matter what happens, one thing is true
My road was made better because I've known you
