From Dad
Was there when you came into this world
Have never been more proud
Held you in my waiting arms
Kissed you face so soft
Watched you grow from day to year
Saw you smile and wiped away your tears
Watched you sleep thru the night
Comforted you when you felt insecure
Through the years I tried my best
Made lots of mistakes, which I now regret
I'm not a perfect human being
But I always loved you with all my heart
I failed you more times than I'm proud to say
And I hurt your Mom along the way
If I could relieve those years again
I would try much harder to be your friend
I did the best that I knew how
I could have been there for you, but wasn't
We could have played ball and golf and such
Or just took a walk and had long talks
I know I did not make you feel proud
And tears were shed at your expense
But God I loved you in my own special way
I regret losing you such a long time ago
I want to tell you before it's too late
I am so proud of the man you've become
It's an honor to call you "My Son"
