Dad

By: Just Another Girl

If you ever think I'm drifting away
By the stuff I do, or the things I say
Just exit those thoughts out or your head
For they would be better off not said.

I'm 18 years old now with a life to pursue
Just because I have friends, doesn't mean
I don't have time for you
I'm slowly growing up day after day
But don't worry, it's normal, it's all right, and okay.

You've given me everything you possibly could
You've been kind and sweet and nice and good
You'd give me the world and another one, too
If it would make me stay and just talk to you.

So, don't ever think you've done wrong
You've been doing fine for o' so long
How you succeed in life I will never see
'Cause everything you do, you do it for me.

And, though, at times you get me mad
I see you're trying to help me, and it makes me glad
All you want is the best for your daughter
And everything you tell me, I don't even bother

And, now I see you are right
I have to work hard in my life
I'll make something of myself and make you proud
I won't follow the so-called "bad crowd".

I love you, daddy, with all the world
And I will always be your little girl.
