A Statue's Perspective

By: David Fronius

Standing in her flowered garden
I was a statue... forever silent and unmoving
a solitary hand raised to the heavens
hoping her angelic face would notice
and touch my soul...
releasing me from my prison of loneliness
a dove appears from the sky
softly landing on my hand
piercing eyes meet mine
and a tear forms and falls onto my palm
and we are joined in that moment
I then heard her gently say
"forgive me for taking so long, my love."
if she only knew...
I would have waited forever
