Lifelong Journey
Dear friend:
You are most welcome to join me
on the journey I must make.
For there is so much that lies ahead
that will be better for the sharing.
If you journey with me, don't feel the need
to walk ahead to guide me in my path.
Neither stumble blindly in my footsteps.
Walk beside me that I may better know your company.
Understand my friend:
though our journey takes the same direction,
our paths will diverge from time to time
as I explore the secret paths and canyons along my way.
Wait with patience for me on the road ahead
for I will happily join you there once more
and rejoice in seeing you again.
Should I grow weary, please offer me your shoulder
as I will offer mine.
If I should stumble and fall upon the road,
kiss my bruised knees and help me claim my feet again.
This will make me stronger and more likely to succeed.
And when our journey is at an end
celebrate with me long into the night.
You will have my everlasting love
for I will have grown to become all that I can be.
