Mile Markers
by Misharae
One, two, three
I count the center-lines
Under my car
Flicker, flicker, flicker
Twenty-four, twenty-five
I hate leaving...
Going...
Without you

But here I am
Seventy-six, seventy-seven
Putting miles between us
Every line a reminder
One hundred nine, your smile
One hundred forty, that laugh
Each trip gets tougher
Every day apart, unbearable
Three hundred one, three hundred two
Four hundred, the tears begin

Because I know
This trip is one-way...

The miles climb
My heart sinks
In every center-line
I see your face
