Godsend
by Armando Canizales
   A Few Hits From Edge
I couldn’t pray the day after she left
My life was bound to end
Till I woke up and met my Godsend

Obsessions w/ resentment and retribution,
she left me that day- ensnared in a slow execution
Broke down then thought I ran into perfection,
but she proved I was meant for angst since conception

Intensive deceptions and depression,
thought I’d wind up in cuffs or a looney bin
Knew no one could love me the way she did,
as long as she loved me I never had to fit in

Broke my heart as she held her secrets,
fueled the hate I built up as a kid
Every time I believed in something good,
...I had been betrayed

The line between right and wrong
was rapidly starting to fade
I wasn’t ok and I knew it,
Too many demons- to fight them would’ve been useless

But just as I started to asphyxiate
under the weight of my hate & my pain
Destiny found my passion
...and from Heaven she came

   A Few Hits From Edge
I couldn’t pray the day after she left
My life was bound to end
Till I woke up and met my Godsend

This girl’s got something precious
A white halo hovering above her
and those sparkling eyes,
her aura consumes me amidst her presence

She’s so beautiful,
got that type of beauty only God could make
As I heard that angelic voice,
it was enough to rekindle my faith

I knew I couldn’t let her go- so I proposed
I truly love this girl,
it’s a funny feeling- knowing you know
without being explain how you know

I call her my Poetic Princess
'cause to know her is to experience the poetry in her soul
The inverse of all I’ve known,
every time I'm with her it feels like my heart is at home

Her affections took out all of the demons that consumed me
I love every thing she does to me
There’s no more pain and no more treason
I found my soul mate, my wife, my reason

   A Few Hits From Edge
I couldn’t pray the day after she left
My life was bound to end
Till I woke up and met my Godsend
